15 Year Old Caitlin

My name is Caitlin and I am 15 years old. I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 3 1/2 years old, and since then I have been through many bouts with my diabetes. After 10 years on MDI my parents and endo had mentioned the pump therapy to me, and I had no interest. I didn't like the idea of having something attached to me all the time, and since I played so many sports I was concerned about what would happen. After I went to Clara Barton Camp for the 3rd year, (a diabetes camp for girls in MA) I met two girls on the pump, and I really liked the idea of it. I discussed it with my endo and my parents, and after a long time of waiting, and discussing, and fighting with the insurance companies I got my pump. I love the pump. It has allowed for more flexibility in my life, (especially sleeping in) and I would never got back to shots!
